This software tool helps demonstrate the thermal design calculations and analysis of Kettle type re-boilers. This can be used to make preliminary sizing calculations. This helps give a clear outlook of the initial design. The software comes with a user friendly design and the interface is simple and easy to use. You can use both measurement standards of SI units as well as English measurement units. You would be able to calculate the number of tubes required. Duty cycle, area and tube length can be calculated easily. Weir height and shell diameter could be calculated easily too. You start by entering the company name, project name, name of the engineer working on the activity, etc. These details get attached to all the drawings and calculations created through the software. Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer co-efficient is used through two different correlations. Same is done for tube side heat transfer coefficients.
Calculation of shell side heat flux, number of vapor nozzles, maximum critical flux by three different co-relations, and maximum allowable vapor velocity on the shell side are possible through this application. Other calculations you could do include clean/fouled overall heat transfer coefficients, tube side pressure drop, unknown mass flow rate and Prandtl number on shell and tube sides and Reynolds number for the tube side could be calculated. Properties of shell/tube sides could be imported via the MS Excel. You could compare up to 5 different cases in one window. Results could be saved and reloaded again as required.
